The Hastings-on-Hudson Volunteer
Fire Department is inviting residents to attend a training
demonstration with the STAT Flight Team from
the Westchester County Medical Center scheduled (weather permitting) for
Tuesday July 31, 2007 at 7:00 pm at Uniontown Park on Rose Street in
Hastings-on-Hudson.
STAT, short for stabilization, treatment and
transport, provides specialized airborne critical medical care and
inter-hospital patient transport throughout the Hudson Valley.
According to Chief of Department Jeff Bannon, STAT
Flight's service is an important resource for those who are severely injured
or ill. "When we need to provide immediate patient transport and severe
trauma care from an accident scene to the Westchester County Medical Center,
we request STAT Flight to respond" states Chief Bannon.
The training will
include the establishment of a landing zone for the helicopter as well as an
information session by the flight crew after the helicopter has landed.
Chief Bannon indicates that "There are many facets of our emergency response
capabilities. We train for every situation and event that could occur and
this drill with STAT Flight is an invaluable opportunity for our members to
add to their skills as well as for residents to see this emergency equipment
up-close."
